Our Story

This started
in a car.

Not some big coffee pilgrimage. Just a regular rideshare shift in Spokane — driving people around, half-listening to a podcast. Then a statistic came up: coffee shops per capita, city by city. The results surprised me. Some of the best numbers weren't coming from the places everyone talks about. They were coming from towns and cities that most people would never think of — places with quietly strong coffee scenes full of roasters who really care.

That moment at a red light connected everything for me: the really good stuff isn't always where you'd expect. It's often right in the communities that don't chase the spotlight.

That's what "Local Famous" means. It's the roasters who are loved in their own towns — the ones locals know and line up for — but who stay mostly unknown outside their area because they never left home.

We started right here in Spokane, one of those surprisingly strong coffee towns per capita. Right now I have nine small roasters within 150 miles I'd personally vouch for. And we're not stopping there. We're going after the even more hidden ones too — like a tiny roaster I know in a town that doesn't even have a gas station.

Every month we bring you their coffee, roasted fresh after the order window closes, with their story. The roaster is the star. The place is the story. We read the numbers, went looking, and we're just getting started.
